Privacy Policy

Last updated 21 September 2026

VidaVoir is a dating app operated from Kerala, India. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to privacy@vidavoir.com and we will answer in plain language.

What we collect

Account details. Your name, date of birth, gender and the email address of the Google account you sign in with. Other people see your age, never the date itself.

Profile content. Photos, your about text, and any optional details you choose to fill in.

Location. Your approximate location. Before it reaches our servers it is rounded, and then shifted by an amount of your own that nobody else can work out — so the point we hold is a few hundred metres from where you actually are. It is used to show you people nearby and how far away they are. If you turn off Show exact location in Settings, your distance is hidden from everyone. You can delete the stored point at any time with Remove my location, in Settings under Privacy; Explore saves a new one the next time you open it.

Live location. Inside a chat you can choose to share your exact position with that one person, for fifteen minutes, one hour, or up to eight hours. While it is on, your exact position passes through our servers so that person can see it. It is only sent while VidaVoir is open on your phone, and pauses while the app is closed. You can stop it at any moment from the card in the chat, and it stops by itself when the time you picked runs out. Once it has ended, the location is deleted from our servers within a few hours.

Messages and media. Text, photos and voice notes you send in chat.

Verification photo. One selfie, holding a pose we ask for, used once to confirm you are a real person and deleted after review.

Activity and safety records. The people you add to your favourites, the profiles you view, the people you block, reports you make or that are made about you, and any action we take on an account. Messages you send us through Help & Support.

Device information. A notification token so we can send you alerts, a random code created by the app so that your account is only signed in on one phone at a time, and basic technical data needed to keep the app working.

Crash reports. If the app crashes, a report of what went wrong — the error, your phone model and its system version — is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix it. It does not include your messages or photos. Nothing is sent before you have signed in and accepted our terms, and you can switch it off at any time in Settings, under Privacy.

Technical logs. Like any online service, our providers keep short-term logs of requests, including IP addresses, to keep the service secure and working.

Special category information

Four of the optional profile questions ask about things the law treats with extra care: what you believe, how you practise it, your sexual orientation, and your pronouns, which can say something about your gender identity.

All four are entirely optional. Leave them blank, choose Prefer not to say, or delete your answer at any time. They are only ever shown on your own profile. They are never used to decide who sees you, and are never shared with anyone outside the app.

The first time you answer one, the app asks for your explicit consent, and we record when you gave it. Removing the answer, or changing it to Prefer not to say, withdraws that consent.

Why we collect it

To create your profile, show you relevant people, deliver your messages, keep the community safe from fake and abusive accounts, notify you when something happens, and find and fix problems in the app. We do not sell your data.

The legal basis for it

Contract. Your account, profile, location and messages are what the service is. Without them there is no app to provide.

Consent. The four special category questions, if you choose to answer them. Crash reports. You can withdraw either at any time.

Legitimate interests. Keeping members safe from fake and abusive accounts, keeping the service running and secure, and showing people who has viewed them or added them to favourites.

Legal obligation. Keeping records of reports, preserving information when the law requires it, and responding to lawful requests.

Adverts

There are no adverts in VidaVoir, so nothing about you is sent to an advertising network, and the app does not ask your phone for an advertising identifier.

Android's Privacy Sandbox features, such as ad Topics, are switched off for VidaVoir, so using the app is not used to guess your interests.

Payments

If you buy Premium, the payment is handled by Google Play. We never see your card or bank details. Google tells us which plan you bought, when, its order number, and whether it is active, renewed, cancelled or refunded. We use this only to give you Premium and to handle refunds.

What other people can see

Your name, age, gender, photos, verification badge and the profile details you filled in. If both of you have Show exact location on, they see how far away you are. If you have left them switched on, they also see when you are online and when you were last active.

When you view someone's profile or add them to your favourites, they can see that you did, and may be sent a notification about it. While Incognito mode is on, your profile views are not recorded.

Your email address is never shown to other users. Your date of birth is never shown. Your position is never shown in Explore, in search or on your profile — there, people see at most how far away you are. The one exception is a live location you choose to share inside a chat, which shows your exact position to that one person until you stop it or the time runs out.

Who we share it with

Only the services that make the app run. Supabase for database and file storage, hosted in Mumbai, India. Google for sign-in, push notifications, crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) and payments (Google Play). Cloudflare, for hosting our website and basic visitor statistics. Our website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which sees a visitor's IP address.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone from serious harm — including information preserved after a child-safety report.

Where your information goes

Your profile, photos and messages are stored in Mumbai, India. Google's services for sign-in, notifications and crash reports are worldwide, which means some information reaches servers outside your country, including the United States.

Where information leaves the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, it is transferred under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, which Google has in place for these services.

How long we keep it

Your data stays while your account is open, unless you delete it sooner. We do not currently close inactive accounts automatically.

Verification photos are deleted after review. A live location is deleted within a few hours of ending. A notification token that has not been used for 90 days is deleted.

A conversation stays until both people have deleted it, or either person deletes their account. Its messages are then removed straight away, and its photos and voice notes within 7 days.

When you delete your account, your profile, photos, chats and messages are removed straight away, with these exceptions:

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

Write to privacy@vidavoir.com for any of these, from the email address you sign in with, so we can confirm it is really you. We answer within thirty days.

If you are not happy

Tell us first, at privacy@vidavoir.com, and we will try to put it right.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk.

Your choices

Delete your account any time from Settings, or see vidavoir.com/delete.html. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

Turn on Incognito mode to browse without appearing in Explore, pause your profile entirely, hide your online status, hide your last active time, hide your distance, remove your stored location, or switch off crash reports. All of these are in Settings, under Privacy.

Stop a live location you are sharing at any moment, from the card in the chat.

Control who is allowed to message you.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Photos, chat media and verification photos are kept in private storage that is only reachable through short-lived links.

On Android, screenshots and screen recording are blocked on VidaVoir's own screens. A few screens that belong to your phone rather than to the app — such as the photo picker and the photo cropper — are not covered, and no technical measure is perfect.

Children

VidaVoir is only for people aged 18 and over. If we find an account belonging to someone under 18, we remove it. A child-safety report is acted on as our child safety standards describe, and information about it is preserved for the police. The standards are published at vidavoir.com/child-safety.html.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
